Today, we shall see a very useful phrase meaning, "I don't understand." It is of course very useful because many times you won't immediately understand what people are saying.
In Hungarian, "I don't understand" is Nem értem.
Nem értem.
Let's break it down by syllable: Nem ér-tem.
Now let's hear it once again: Nem értem.
The first word, nem, means, "no/don't."
Let’s break it down this word slowly now: nem

Értem, which in Hungarian is "I understand," follows this.
Értem
To recap, we have Nem értem, literally, this means, "I don't understand."
Now let's look at another phrase, Nem tudom, which means, "I don't know."
Let’s say it slowly now: Nem tudom
And, Nem tudom
The word tudom means, "I know."
Another way to express that you don't understand is by telling someone "I don't speak Hungarian" This phrase in Hungarian is Nem beszélek magyarul.

Let's break it down by syllable: Nem be-szé-lek ma-gya-rul.
Now let's hear it once again: Nem beszélek magyarul.
The first word, nem means "no."
This is followed by beszélek, which in English is "I speak."
