INTRODUCTION
John: Idioms That Can Be Used to Close a Conversation
John: Hi everyone, and welcome back to HungarianPod101.com. I'm John.
Lena: And I'm Lena!
John: This is Must-Know Hungarian Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 20. In this lesson, you'll learn idioms that can be used to close a conversation.
John: The idioms introduced in this lesson are mostly used by young people and they should not be translated word by word.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
John: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Lena: Végre!
Lena: Szerinted?
Lena: Nem mondod!
Lena: nem gond
John: Lena, what's our first expression?
Lena: Végre!
John: literally meaning "Finally!" And when it's used as a slang expression, it also means the same.
Lena: [SLOW] Végre! [NORMAL] Végre!
John: Listeners, please repeat.
Lena: Végre!

John: Use this slang expression when something happened that you were not looking forward to or you are not happy about. It’s meant to be used in a sarcastic way, when you don’t really mean it.
John: Now let's hear an example sentence.
Lena: [NORMAL] - Elromlott a tv. - Végre! [SLOW] - Elromlott a tv. - Végre!
John: "- The TV has broken down. - Finally!"
Lena: [NORMAL] - Elromlott a tv. - Végre!
John: Okay, what's the next expression?
Lena: Szerinted?
John: literally meaning "What do you think?" And when it's used as a slang expression, it also means the same.
Lena: [SLOW] Szerinted? [NORMAL] Szerinted?

John: Use this slang expression when it is very obvious what has happened, but the person you are talking to is still asking about it, or you want to express disbelief.
John: Now let's hear an example sentence.

John: "- I failed the exam.” “- And did you get the bike?” “- What do you think?"

John: Okay, what's our next expression?
Lena: Nem mondod!
John: literally meaning "You don't say!" And when it's used as a slang expression, it also means the same.
Lena: [SLOW] Nem mondod! [NORMAL] Nem mondod!

John: Use this slang expression when it could have been known that something would happen.
John: Now let's hear an example sentence.

John: "- Yesterday, Juli got home after midnight again. - What a surprise!"

Lena: nem gond
John: literally meaning "no problem." And when it's used as a slang expression, it also means the same.

John: Use this slang expression when you want to express that something is not a problem at all.
John: Now let's hear an example sentence.

John: "- Sorry, I broke the cup. - No problem."
