Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What kind of movies do you like?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about movies and ask other people about their favorite kinds of movies.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Milyen filmeket szeretsz?
Szeretem a horrorfilmeket.
Once more with the English translation.
Milyen filmeket szeretsz?
“What kind of movies do you like?”
Szeretem a horrorfilmeket.
“I like horror movies.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say "What kind of movies do you like?"
That's: Milyen filmeket szeretsz?
Listen to it again: Milyen filmeket szeretsz?, Milyen filmeket szeretsz?
This Hungarian sentence translates as "What movies you like?" But it means “What kind of movies do you like?”
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Szeretem a(z) [type of movie] filmeket.
This Hungarian sentence translates as "I like the [type of movie] movies." But it means "I like [type of movie] movies."
For example:
“I like horror movies.”
Szeretem a horrorfilmeket., Szeretem a horrorfilmeket.
