That's a good question!
Actually, both Budapestig and Budapestre is grammatically correct. The meaning is only slightly different.
Budapestig means that you go until Budapest, (you can also get off the train next to Budapest, the most important is the journey, not the final point), while Budapestre means that you are going to Budapest (your final goal is the city itself precisely).

Do you say "....Budapestig" or "Budapestre"?
I learned "-ig" means "to.....some place" but there are a few specials like if I want to got to Budapest, it literally means, I want to go "on" Budapest --> Budapestre....
I am a little bit confused about that.
Maybe you can help me :)
